A die is rolled thrice. What is the probability of getting a number greater than 44 in the first and the second throw of dice and a number less than 44 in the third throw ?

Correct Option: 4
On a standard die with faces numbered 11 through 66:
Numbers greater than 44: 5,65, 6 (total 22 possibilities)
Numbers less than 44: 1,2,31, 2, 3 (total 33 possibilities)

For each throw:
Probability of getting a number >4=26=13> 4 = \dfrac{2}{6} = \dfrac{1}{3}
Probability of getting a number <4=36=12< 4 = \dfrac{3}{6} = \dfrac{1}{2}

Since all throws are independent events, we multiply the individual probabilities:
Probability = 13×13×12\dfrac{1}{3} \times \dfrac{1}{3} \times \dfrac{1}{2}
=118= \dfrac{1}{18}
