Manoj purchased a car from DD Motors invoiced at 10 Lacs. The company offered many attractive gifts, like free insurance for the first two years, free pick-up and drop facilities for free servicing of upto 20,000 km etc. But after a few days, he noticed that the pick-up of the car was not good and there was some problem with the engine of the car. The company serviced the car for free, but even then, Manoj was not satisfied with the performance of the car. Manoj again called the customer care services of DD Motors, but DD Motors did not give him the due response. So he filed a complaint with the District Commission after but was not satisfied with the decision. He was very disturbed and, after a month, decided to appeal against it.

Identify the responsibility which Manoj kept in mind in the above case?

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 2

Option 1 -> Reading labels carefully is important for understanding product details and specifications, but this wasn't the primary responsibility Manoj focused on in this case.

Option 2 -> Obtaining a bill or invoice is a crucial consumer responsibility that ensures proof of purchase, warranty claims, and legal protection in case of disputes.

Option 3 -> Focusing solely on gifts is not a responsible consumer behavior as it overlooks important aspects like product quality, pricing, and documentation.

Option 4 -> Having a driving license is unrelated to general consumer responsibilities and pertains specifically to vehicle operation.

Hence, Option 2: Obtaining Bill/Invoice -> Manoj understood that obtaining a bill/invoice is a fundamental consumer responsibility as it serves as legal proof of purchase, enables warranty claims, helps in product returns or exchanges, and protects consumer rights in case of any disputes with the seller -> correct
