Solution

✅ Correct Option: 3

The graph shows a V-shaped curve, which is characteristic of an absolute value function.

The vertex is the lowest point where the two lines meet.

From the graph, the vertex is at the point (1,1)(1, 1).

For any absolute value function in the form y=∣x−h∣+ky = |x - h| + k, the vertex is at the point (h,k)(h, k).

In this form:

  • hh moves the graph left or right
  • kk moves the graph up or down

Since the vertex is at (1,1)(1, 1):

h=1h = 1

k=1k = 1

Substituting into the formula:

y=∣x−1∣+1y = |x - 1| + 1

The sign inside the absolute value is opposite to the vertex location:

  • y=∣x−1∣y = |x - 1| has vertex at x=1x = 1 (moves right)
  • y=∣x+1∣y = |x + 1| has vertex at x=−1x = -1 (moves left)

This is because x−1=0x - 1 = 0 gives x=1x = 1.

Therefore, the answer is y=∣x−1∣+1y = |x - 1| + 1
