Two pipes A and B fill a tank in 12 minutes and 15 minutes respectively. If both the pipes are opened simultaneously and pipe A is closed after 3 minutes, then how much more time will it take to fill the tank with pipe B?

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 2

In 33 minutes both pipes fill 3(112+115)=9203\left(\dfrac{1}{12}+\dfrac{1}{15}\right) = \dfrac{9}{20} of the tank.

The remaining 1120\dfrac{11}{20} is filled by B alone at 115\dfrac{1}{15} per minute.

Time =1120×15=8.25= \dfrac{11}{20}\times15 = 8.25 minutes =8= 8 minutes 1515 seconds.
