Figure for CUET Mathematics 2023 22 May Shift 3 question 24 (Calculus)

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 1

Triangle with vertices (−2,0),(2,2),(2,−2)(-2,0),(2,2),(2,-2) has area 12⋅4⋅4=8\frac{1}{2}\cdot 4\cdot 4=8.

Area inside parabola y2=2xy^2=2x from x=0x=0 to x=2x=2:

2∫022x dx=22⋅23⋅22=1632\int_0^2\sqrt{2x}\,dx=2\sqrt{2}\cdot\frac{2}{3}\cdot 2\sqrt{2}=\frac{16}{3}.

Shaded area =8−163=83=8-\frac{16}{3}=\frac{8}{3} sq. units.
