Given below are two statements:

Statement (I): The volume of a right circular cylinder of base radius 7 cm and height 10 cm is 1540 cm3 (Take π = 22/7).

Statement (II): Total surface area of the cylinder having radius of base 14 cm and height 30 cm, is 3872 cm2 (Take π= 22/7).

In light of the above statements, choose the most appropriate answer from the options given below.

Solution

Correct Option: 1

Statement I:

Volume of cylinder = πr2hπr^2h

=227×72×10= \frac{22}{7} × 7^2 × 10

=227×49×10= \frac{22}{7} × 49 × 10

=1540= 1540 cm³ ✓

Statement II:

Total surface area = 2πr2+2πrh2πr^2 + 2πrh

=2227(142+14×30)= 2\frac{22}{7}(14^2 + 14 × 30)

=447(196+420)= \frac{44}{7}(196 + 420)

=447(616)= \frac{44}{7}(616)

=3872= 3872 cm² ✓

Therefore, both statements are true.
