A rectangular block with a volume of 250 cm³ was sliced into two cubes of equal volume. How much greater (in sq.cm) is the combined surface area of the two cubes than the original surface area of the rectangular block?

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 3

Each cube has volume 125125 cm³, so its edge is 5 cm and the block measures 5×5×105\times5\times10.

Block surface area =2(25+50+50)=250=2(25+50+50)=250 cm². Two cubes give 2×6×25=3002\times6\times25=300 cm².

Difference =300−250=50=300-250=50 cm², which equals the two new faces exposed by the cut.
