If the difference between 62% and 80% of a number is 198, then the difference between 92% and 56% of the same number will be :-

The gap between $80\%$ and $62\%$ is $18\%$ , so

$18\%\text{ of the number}=198$

The gap we now want is between $92\%$ and $56\%$ , which is $36\%$ .

Since $36\%$ is exactly double $18\%$ , the answer is double 198:

$2\times198=396$

The long way gives the same thing: the number is $198\times\dfrac{100}{18}=1100$ , and $\dfrac{36}{100}\times1100=396$ .
