Let distance = $d$ km.

Time difference: $\frac{d}{3} - \frac{d}{3.75} = \frac{1}{2}$ .

$d \left(\frac{1}{3} - \frac{4}{15}\right) = \frac{1}{2}$ , so $d \times \frac{1}{15} = \frac{1}{2}$ .

Therefore $d = 7.5$ km.
