Amit is walking at a speed of 10 km/hr. After every kilometer, he takes a rest for 5 minutes. What is the time taken to cover a distance of 5 kilometers by Amit?

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 2

Amit's speed = 10 km/hr

Time for 1 km:

Time =DistanceSpeed= \dfrac{\text{Distance}}{\text{Speed}}

=110= \dfrac{1}{10} hour

=110×60= \dfrac{1}{10} \times 60

=6= 6 minutes per km

Distance to cover = 5 km

Walking time =5×6= 5 \times 6

=30= 30 minutes

After 1st km → Rest

After 2nd km → Rest

After 3rd km → Rest

After 4th km → Rest

After 5th km → Destination reached (no rest)

Number of rests =4= 4

Rest time =4×5= 4 \times 5

=20= 20 minutes

Total time == Walking time ++ Rest time

=30+20= 30 + 20

=50= 50 minutes
