A toy is made in the shape of a hemisphere of diameter 7 cm surmounted by a cone. If this 15.5 cm high toy is polished at 20 paise per cm2^2, then find the cost of polishing. Take π=227\pi = \frac{22}{7}

Radius r=3.5r = 3.5 cm. Height of cone = 15.53.5=1215.5 - 3.5 = 12 cm. Slant height l=122+3.52=12.5l = \sqrt{12^2 + 3.5^2} = 12.5 cm.

Total surface area =2πr2+πrl=πr(2r+l)=227(3.5)(19.5)=214.5= 2\pi r^2 + \pi r l = \pi r(2r + l) = \frac{22}{7}(3.5)(19.5) = 214.5 cm2^2.

Cost =214.5×0.20== 214.5 \times 0.20 = Rs. 42.90.
