A cuboidal slab of copper having dimensions 22 cm ×\times 10 cm ×\times 5 cm is melted and recasted in the form of a wire of 1 mm diameter. The wire is rubber coated at the rate of Rs. 1.50 per meter. Find the cost of rubber coating (in Rs.) Use π=227\pi = \frac{22}{7}.

Volume of cuboid =22×10×5=1100= 22 \times 10 \times 5 = 1100 cm3^3. Wire radius =0.5= 0.5 mm =1/20= 1/20 cm. Using πr2L=1100\pi r^2 L = 1100: L=1100×7/(22×1/400)=140000L = 1100 \times 7 / (22 \times 1/400) = 140000 cm =1400= 1400 m. Cost =1400×1.50=2100= 1400 \times 1.50 = 2100.
