An article is sold at a certain price. By selling it at 2/3 of that price one loses 10%. Find the gain percentage at original price :

Solution

Correct Option: 1

Let original SP = P. New SP = 2P3\frac{2P}{3} gives 10% loss.

2P3=0.9×CP\frac{2P}{3} = 0.9 \times CP

CP=2P2.7=20P27CP = \frac{2P}{2.7} = \frac{20P}{27}.

Gain at original = P20P/2720P/27×100=7/2720/27×100=35\frac{P - 20P/27}{20P/27} \times 100 = \frac{7/27}{20/27} \times 100 = 35%.
