The speed of the boat in still water is 20 km/hrs and speed of the stream is 5 km/hr. Find the time taken to travel 50 km downstream and 30 km upstream by the boat.

Solution

Correct Option: 2

Downstream speed =20+5=25= 20+5 = 25 km/hr. Upstream speed =205=15= 20-5 = 15 km/hr. Time downstream =5025=2= \frac{50}{25} = 2 hr. Time upstream =3015=2= \frac{30}{15} = 2 hr. Total time =2+2=4= 2+2 = 4 hours.
