A right angle triangle is rotated along the base. If the perpendicular, hypotenuse and base of the triangle are 8 cm, 10 cm and 6 cm respectively. Find the volume of the cone formed through rotation. (π=3.14\pi = 3.14)

Solution

Correct Option: 3

When rotated along the base (6 cm as axis), the perpendicular (8 cm) becomes radius and base (6 cm) becomes height. Volume =13πr2h=13×3.14×82×6=13×3.14×64×6401.92= \frac{1}{3}\pi r^2 h = \frac{1}{3} \times 3.14 \times 8^2 \times 6 = \frac{1}{3} \times 3.14 \times 64 \times 6 \approx 401.92 cm3^3, closest to 401.44.
