A seller earns a profit of 10% after selling an object at 10% discount. What is the ratio of cost price to the printed price of the object ?

Solution

Correct Option: 3

Let CP = xx and Printed Price = yy. Selling Price = 0.9y0.9y (after 10% discount). Also SP = 1.1x1.1x (10% profit). So 1.1x=0.9y1.1x = 0.9y, giving xy=0.91.1=911\frac{x}{y} = \frac{0.9}{1.1} = \frac{9}{11}. Thus CP : PP = 9 : 11.
