ipmat preparation started 2 weeks ago guide me pleasee
Hi! I’m preparing for IPMAT Indore and I’d really appreciate your guidance. I’ll keep everything point-wise so it’s easier to answer:( please guide meeeee )
- Profile + academics
- I’m a PCB dropper — 10th: 89.9%, 12th: 77.2%.
- I discovered IPMAT only in July and started prep around 2 weeks ago; joined coaching in August.
- I’ve heard academics can matter quite a bit, especially for colleges/programmes like Kozhikode.
- With my profile, how should I compensate for my 12th percentage? Should I aim for a significantly higher written score, or is there anything else I should focus on?
- VARC
- I gave my first VA sectional 2 days ago and scored 127. Since I had barely started preparing, it actually boosted my confidence.
- VARC is relatively comfortable for me overall, but my two weak areas are RC + para-jumbles.
- RC
- My comprehension is generally good, and I got all the RC questions correct in my sectional, but I struggle with some of the harder AfterBoards daily RCs.
- I analyse my mistakes and have tried different methods, but I’m not seeing consistent improvement.
- I’m not trying to get every RC question right, but I want the confidence to handle an unfamiliar/difficult RC and get most questions right.
- What specifically helped you improve RC accuracy/comprehension?
- How did you analyse RC mistakes, and what did your regular RC practice look like?
- Para-jumbles
- I know they can be unpredictable and people say not to over-invest in them, but I don’t want to completely ignore them.
- How important are they for Indore, and how did you practise them efficiently?
- Quants — biggest concern
- I’m from PCB, and Quants is currently my weakest subject. Honestly, I also don’t practise it enough because I find it boring, so sometimes I feel like avoiding it.
- Basic questions are becoming manageable, but unfamiliar/difficult or mixed-concept questions make me go blank.
- After seeing the solution, I usually understand it, but I want to develop the ability to approach unfamiliar questions myself.
- What specifically helped you go from feeling weak in Quants to becoming confident?
- Apart from “practise more”, was there any particular routine/method that helped you?
- How did you develop the ability to look at an unfamiliar question and recognise what kind of approach/concept it might require?
- Mistakes + notes
- When you got a Quants question wrong, how did you record and deal with it?
- Did you write the entire question + solution, or just something short like topic → question type → why you got it wrong → key concept/approach?
- For a one-off silly mistake (calculation/misreading), did you actually record it, or just take note of it and move on?
- For a hard/unique question or a mistake you repeatedly make, what level made it worth writing down?
- Did you keep this in your concept notebook, a separate mistake notebook, or digitally?
- Is a digital folder for difficult/unique questions equally effective, or did you find physically writing them down better?
- How did you decide which mistakes/questions were worth revisiting?
- Repeated exposure + mastery
- How did you get repeated exposure to old questions/topics without getting stuck on one chapter?
- Did you have a fixed weekly revision/reattempt system?
- How often did you reattempt questions you got wrong?
- When you repeatedly made the same mistake, what did you actually do differently?
- How did you reach the point where an unfamiliar question doesn’t immediately make you blank, even if you haven’t seen that exact question?
- Basically, what did “mastering a chapter” mean to you before you felt comfortable moving on?
- When to move on from a chapter
- I have a lot of resources through my batch + AfterBoards: class questions, worksheets, modules, master worksheets, topic tests, etc.
- If I try to finish everything for every backlog chapter, I’ll take forever.
- What was your benchmark for saying “I’ve done enough for now; I can move to the next chapter”?
- If I understand the class concepts and can solve normal class

i hope this reaches bhavesh bhaiya as well, im a 12th pcm grade 2027 aspirant, i recently bought the basic ipmat plan, i need help in making the best use out of it. i have completed the syllabus of arithmetic,number system, algebra and geometry is left and kinda having a hard time w it, modernmath is going well. VARC is my forte and i even gave a sectional whare i scored 145. im strong at rcs(i often top the leaderboards), conversational analysis, sentence completion and parajumbles but error correction and grammar rules, i am struggling on these. How to use sectionals and topic tests along with syllabus completion assuming i can devote 22 hrs a week to ipmat and havent really started lrdi.
