Methodology 1 - Top X students
We have IPMAT response-sheet data from 2024, 2025, 2026. The cutoff is decided by top performers, so we only look at the top X students from each year (say top 500), keeping the comparison fair across years regardless of how many total students appeared on the platform.
We then find what fraction of the top-X average the actual cutoff was in 2024 and 2025, average those fractions, and apply it to 2026's top-X average to predict the cutoff.
We repeat this for multiple values of X (200 to 1500) -- if the prediction stays stable across all of them, trust it. If it swings, the data is too thin at the top to be confident.
This is Python spitting the numbers, ignore the 25 for 2026 pred (SA), it didn't know that SA is scored in multiples of 4.
Based on this, the cutoff could be:
However, IIM Ranchi could also be slightly higher depending on the competition i.e. more students taking the college (more) seriously as compared to previous years
Limitations: 2024 had a lot more top performers in VA than 2025 but the cutoff was only 1 mark more. This shows that our data is also incomplete + Indore might be playing with the importance of each section.
Methodology 2 - Percentile Proxy
Last time, I just equated the percentile to come to a conclusion – it made sense because population was similar, now, while we’ve gotten more responses, we don’t know if the extra responses are from unserious students (who just got to know about AfterBoards because we were more mainstream this year).
I’m unsure of using this methodology right now, which is also why there was a delay with the predictions. Using this, we’re going to get lower estimates because a lot of the extra responses had low scores (again – don’t know if genuine students who found exam hard or unserious aspirants…)

Based on this, the cutoff could be:
However, my instinct tells me to go with methodology 1.
Plus, being prudent (more conservative i.e. higher cutoff estimates) is smarter → less disappointment.
Overall, the exam was pretty similar to 2025 in terms of the top performers.
For other categories, see the last year cutoffs and adjust appropriately with what was shared above: https://www.afterboards.in/ipmat-jipmat-cutoff
We also see (amidst our limited sample size) an increase in the number of reserved students (could also just be more people being upfront about it as compared to before). At the same time, it would be naive to assume that fake certificates aren’t on the rise due to corruption.
For other colleges, anything could happen. We only have 1 year data of Shillong, the admission process was conducted in the last minute. Here are our two cents on the same: https://www.afterboards.in/forums/general/colleges/vTsPPq_should_you_fill_iim_shillong
Right now, focus on giving it your all for JIPMAT and CUET!
Happy learning.

absolutely crestfallen man, one question in mcq would have had me in the clear, 29 in mcq is literally something ill remember my whole life smh
relate
As someone who got 19 in MCQ in IPMAT Indore 2021... and the cutoff was 21, I understand.
Luckily, this isn't the end of the road!
205 (44/32/129) is gonna edge me till the cutoffs are released, for General category, ehh.
32/36/139 = 209
Let's keep our fingers crossed man
you've got it, buddy...
nevertheless, fingers crossed.
Very good chances! Our cutoffs are also made with the intent of keeping it prudent! Fingers crossed! There's a genuine chance of getting in if the interview goes well!
Fingers crossed, bhaiya!
(I've made a seperate post, kinda long ooops, with doubts of mine regarding the interview, really hope you can answer them too, in your own time, ofcourse, which I know you will, but yeaah ;-; )
Oof, can you check out this post of mine ( with sadly, a lot of doubts, sorriee) bhaiya!!
Bhaiya category cutoffs bhi predict kar dete toh 👉👈.
Read the last part of the post!
For other categories, see the last year cutoffs and adjust appropriately with what was shared above: https://www.afterboards.in/ipmat-jipmat-cutoff
Do that to your category, you'll get your estimates, happy to validate your calculations!
Using methodology 2 for ews
Sa would be 16
MCQ would be 19(+-3)
Varc would be 85(+-6)
Using methodology 1 for ews
Sa would be 16/20
MCQ would be 21(+-3)
Varc would be 88(+-6)
Yep, good job! This is right.

he did
180(28/17/135) would have probably cleared both va and sa but i got cooked in mcq
Same here! MCQ had been my weaker area even in mocks, I feel I'll miss sectionals just cuz of MCQ
180(16/41/123) could have cooked SA but i messed up riyal bad and lost my chance at indore 😔.. praying on shillong or amritsar
174 (32/24/118), heartbroken 😭
Oofe, the MCQ is the dicey part. I'm unsure if it'll go so low (at the end of the day -- if Indore chooses to switch things up, it could be crazy). We are assuming on how they've behaved in the past.
Regardless -- Shillong/Amritsar/CUET/etc.
Amritsar could be an option, but I think Shillong will definitely have higher cutoffs, last year's scenario was totally different.
Also, could you please reply on this:
https://www.afterboards.in/forums/general/info/yPZ7se_seniors_please_guide_me_through_this_mess
I think Shillong will definitely have higher cutoffs, last year's scenario was totally different.
Anything can happen! The possibilities are endless :c
Also, lovely statistics!!! Hell yeah
200 (28/41/131), got cooked in SA 🙏 hoping to have a good shot at Ranchi atleast (94 in X, expecting 90+ easily for XII)
You have a GREAT shot for Indore too! All the best! Make sure you don't skim your interview prep! 9/9 is the cherry on the cake.
🙏🙏thanks bhaiya, very reassuring
hi akshit
hi dev
pi prep eksath karna hai kya mittar

okay mittar
Hello aksman,
Can you please share your strategy for va? I am 2027 aspirant.
though there's many aspirants who've gotten greater scores than mine, here goes
since you have a year, try engaging more with the language - read books and articles regularly, and also do the afterboards dailyRCs. there's VA tips on the IPMATtards wiki if I'm not wrong, lots of valuable insights on there too.
I am cooked 29 in mcq, so close yet so far, although nothing is set in stone, its scary that even if I clear it I will be either on dot or behind by a couple of numbers (i am way above the cutoff in other 2 section 36/29/134)
Hi I've almost the same score, 32/29/135....tell me what happens to you later :'-)
its gonna be so depressing if i miss it by 1-2 marks (especially when i would have gotten 34 if not for a simple division mistake)
I'm someone who missed Indore's MCQ cutoff by 2 marks, ahah.
Indore potentially missing out on 2 of the best out there if I dont get it, their loss (delulu is the solulu)
I seriously hope the MCQ cutoff is lower aaaaa -- you have a good score, if not Indore, then other IIMs!
aww naah man... i was rooting for you :(
but dont lose hope just yet -- perhaps the cutoffs in MCQ end up being 29. In anywhich case, your 199 could get you Ranchi. All the very best! Hoping to see you at IIM Ranchi, if not Indore :D
29 is a number im never forgetting
As someone who got 19 in MCQ in IPMAT Indore 2021... and the cutoff was 21, I understand.
mcq will be the death of me, not because im afraid ki cutoffs clear nahi honge, because i know cutoffs clear nahi honge
Koi na, other exams/colleges -- all the best!
Got 40/39/107, scope for converting any IIM seems low as a general candidate
I applied to a few unis thro UCAS, my best pick is bsc economics at Warwick university, or i could get into St.Xaviers Mumbai again (dropped out last year) thro my boards result (98.6%), which is better?
econ at warwick if you can afford it is way better lmao
Okay thankss
As @nayrawanker said -- if you can afford Econ at Warwick, go for it!
Bhaiya which one is better- Warwick or IIM shillong/ranchi?
24/21/117 - only if I had put in more effort for MCQ, sighh- Feel soooooo mad at myself rn 🥲😭 can't do anything nvm
thought 32 in mcq put me in the clear, alr told my parents indore ka interview aajana chahiye rahhhhhhh ab kya bolunga
32 in mcq here too, brotha. feel ya :)
34 in MCQ might put me on the edge
On the edge of our edge -- you're safe!
With a 206 score is ranchi feasible? because my ecas are pretty non-existent but i still have a 9/9 profile
Yes if you have a top-notch interview and prove yourself academically.
damn if their borderline with 205 i shouldnt even hope with a 195 right
Gen-Male candidates ka thoda sa bura scene hai vis-a-vis Gen-Female candidates. +5 points in total calculation is equivalent to a lot of marks (had shown in my Ranchi calculation)!
Yes nothing we can do about it though on a different note do u have any idea what the highest score someone got in the interview in iim ranchi seeing as though its the only possibilty left for me
I don't understand this but I trust u
VARC looks a bit dicey at 121 but its much better than what i anticipated so
If IIM Indore doesn't change the importance of each section, 121 should clear it! Prepare for interviews!
That helps ton! Thanks
What about ranchi? I mean if they do take Total score 196 should do it but with GD+ I have 89% in 10th and 95 in 12th so improbable perhaps I'm not sure about their calculation system
Any comments if u can since ur a connonseuir as far as Ranchi is concerned
196 is going to be hard with 8/9 profile, however, it's not impossible -- it all boils down to the interview!
When can we expect interview calls and ik we select dates but how much of a window do i have to prep for interviews? Sorry for so many questions haha
Indore: 1-2 weeks for the cutoffs; 2-4 weeks after that for interview.
Ranchi -> sigh, no one knows.
Bhaiya I'm so fucking scared rn, 32/29/135 (196), gen female...do I have a chance anywhere? Apart from Ranchi, is there any college that doesn't have sectional cutoffs?
why are u scared u have a very good chance at ranchi which is a great college and if you take the worst case u only dont get a call from indore with realistic chances to convert everything apart from indore
Ranchi - good chance, esp with +5 in diversity points!
You have a shot at all the IIMs honestly!
isnt the cutoff in 2025 mcq data wrong?

yup, the cutoff indicator is wrong, looks like.
the graph's distorted here, must be a glitch from yday's update, but the prediction of 2026 has the accurate data, dw.
It was 28, we moved it to the next bin for more accurate percentile / target / understanding.
Will not do this so it doesn't create confusion, thank you!
We'll roll this back in the next update.
This feels weird, Didn't they specify ATS calculations on their ipm admissions notice that they released back in october (ish?) (for ipm 2026-31)? They did clearly specify 25-25-50 weightage to the sections. Why would they change this? And can they?
Just checked again, the doc is still on the website.
Just concerned as to why Indore would change the method after having specified it. Also can they even do this (legally)?
Actual Cutoffs:
QA-SA: 28 (Deviation: 4)
QA-MCQ: 27 (Deviation from 31: 4)
VARC: 111 (Deviation from 113: 2)
Total Deviation: 10.
However, the other percentile based estimates were much closer.
Deviations as follows:
QA-SA --> 4 (Est. 24 Act. 28)
QA-MCQ --> 2 (Est. 29 Act. 27)
VARC --> 1 (Est. 110 Act. 111)
Total Deviation: 7.
IIM Indore really threw a curve ball with their MCQ score
(wrote this because i was bored)
48/38/99 Lost all hope for Indore atp. Hope to get a call from Ranchi and Shillong. Looking forward to taking tips from you for the interview.
Got only 98 overall . This is so bad. What to do next? Can i believe in cracking jipmat or rohtak?
Is this for IIM Indore or Ranchi? Got 34 in QA MCQ, what are my chances for clearing indore's cutoffs
Ranchi doesn't have sectional cutoffs. Indore has sectional cutoffs. The post has mentioned both.
The above is based on Methodology-1.
16/12/92 NC OBC i think my chances are grim but ig these are enough for iim ranchi ig?
Last year's cutoff was 120. It could be a tad-bit higher this year in my opinion. Hence, the current score is a little dicey -- but let's hope for the best!
How to calculate the cutoff for obc?
I calculated it. For the MCQ section, it was 12, across all years, it's never been lower than this. Can we expect the deviation to be even lower? (cuz you said you guys are seeing an increase in reserved students.)
What we have is a sample (not the entire population), hence, it may or may not happen. That's why take a range! If you're in the range of the expected cutoff, it could be dicey -- but not impossible!
Bhaiya is 44/43/83 enough for Shillong?...I am a partial dropper (91 in 10th and 94 in 12th: both cbse)
Explained here: https://www.afterboards.in/forums/general/colleges/vTsPPq_should_you_fill_iim_shillong
Feel free to share your understanding after going through the above, happy to validate it!
will me being a dropper affect my acad weightage in shillong?
No, why do you think it would? (genuinely concerned)
they would compare the results of this year 12th students...but i gave the exam last year so maybe there would be some negative impact of it
No, there won't be. Who put this idea in your head?
[deleted]
MCQ is a bit dicey but apart from that, sounds legit -- if not Indore, other IIMs for sure. However, if Indore interview call comes, your score is really good (thanks to VA) -- you could convert it too! All the best!
Bhaiya I got 132 in total
Qa sa - 20
Qa MCQ - 36
Varc - 76
Do I have any chance in any of the iims as a general category candidate.
As shillong and amritsar cutoffs are low.
Should I take a partial drop with bba dbe.
Please help me out bhaiya what all iims can I realistically expect.
Perhaps Sirmaur, Sambalpur etc.
Amritsar is a bit dicey.
Only take a drop if you are mentally strong. Else, take the best college through CUET and do IIT-M / IIM-B online degree (if you want -- complement it)... and then focus on CAT (or other PG exams).
Bhaiya but if there are any chances in Amritsar as it is my first priority option now because I like the degree they are giving
Hiya,
I'm a gen male candidate and scored 12/22/142 (176)
I know I got cooked in the Quants section, do I have any realistic chance at IIM Ranchi or Shillong
(Also preparing for CUET as well as JIPMAT currently..)
(I understand nothing is set in stone and cutoffs might change, but it's so so heartbreaking to see these scores because I made some last second changes in quants, only to realise what I did earlier was correct..., so should I keep any hopes or is it too far gone)
Ranchi - no.
Shillong is dicey (I don't think you should keep expectations because MCQ cutoff is lower than last year).
All the best for CUET and JIPMAT -- if you get a top NC college, think of it as saving ~20 lakhs in fees!
Ah, I see.
Thanks a lot Bhavesh Bhaiya, truly grateful for all that you do for us students! :)
170 (44/43/83)I am Gen Fem... VA is gone for me... which colleges should i keep in mind rn? i know that indore and ranchi are way out of my league but is it possible for Shillong? (I have not filled any other except these)
Shillong might be possible if they keep a low VA cutoff like last year!
191 no hopes for ranchi? Hurts since I've been a decent student throughout
Likha toh hai highest cutoff would be roughly 188-190... There is some hope
Borderline pe kyu lenge mujhe, I have low ecas
ECAs don't matter much for Ranchi. I know a junior who got in at the EXACT cutoff mark (gen-female though).
Saw your reply to another comment of mine, ty I have some hopes now
199(48/38/113) va is gonna cook me so hard
oooh, VA feels borderline -- we hope it doesn't go beyond 113 -- aaaaaa.
got 20/18/103 gen female btw should i apply for shillong?? 96 in 10th and expecting 90+ in 12th got cooked in ipmat😭
Can you please publish cutoffs for SC category?
Extrapolate it by calculating the deviation of the earlier years and doing it for this year based on the predicted cutoffs -- happy to validate your calculations!
Bhaiya please help me reduce my confusion..... Got 172 (32/27/113). Aiming indore and shillong please help me where can I get a call and how likely it is for me to get a call. :(
indore nah, but you have chances for shillong if interview goes well and good 10th and 12th
I had 95 in 10th and 75 in 12th. No ecas :(
12th matters more but i guess you should give shillong a try if you are confident in your english and speaking skills, plus your score's decent.
I don't know your category. I'm assuming it to be general.
Indore -- dicey; regardless, final conversion chances is low/nil.
Shillong -- depends on how they announce MCQ cutoffs: https://www.afterboards.in/forums/general/colleges/vTsPPq_should_you_fill_iim_shillong
Other IIMs are likely!
bro do you think i have a chance at Shillong with 12/3/145 😭. i'm an IB student and i studied like 2 days for the exam. i've got great 10th and going to get stellar 12th results in IB. i've got a lot of extra curriculars as well and my essay answers on the application were also reallyyyyyyy good. what do you think my chance is? i think i'm failing cutoff
MCQ is way too low man. It's best not to hold onto hope. Apply if you have the money tho
8/12/77 female nc obc any change
Bhaiya 104 in varc fir general?
If my above post was a reading-comprehension, what would you infer for 104?
Hi
I got 97 score what are the chances for me to get into any iim based on Ipmat Indore score
iim dholakpur is calling your name
