The speed of a 90 meter long train is 45 km/h. A man is standing right next to the railway line. How much time will the train take to cross the speed increases by 20%?

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 3

Increased speed =45×1.2=54= 45 \times 1.2 = 54 km/h =54×518=15= 54 \times \frac{5}{18} = 15 m/s.

To cross a stationary man the train covers only its own length, 9090 m.

Time =9015=6= \frac{90}{15} = 6 seconds.

Note: The NTA sentence omits the object being crossed. We have read it as the time to cross the man standing beside the track after the speed rises by 20%.
