Seven people, A, B, C, D, E, F and G are sitting in a circle facing the center and playing cards. E is neighbor of A and D. G is not between F and C. B is not neighbor of G and D. F is the immediate right of A.

Which of the following statements is/are correct:

(A) A and B are sitting adjacent to each other.

(B) A is sitting immediately right of E.

(C) F is second to the left of C.

(D) F and C are neighbors of B

Choose the correct answer from the options given below:

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 2

Looking at the constraints, let me systematically determine the seating arrangement.

Given constraints:

  • E is neighbor of A and D
  • G is not between F and C
  • B is not neighbor of G and D
  • F is the immediate right of A

Since F is immediately right of A (clockwise direction), and E is neighbor of A, E must be immediately left of A (as F already occupies the right).

Since E is also neighbor of D, and E is already between A and something, D must be on the other side of E.

This gives us: D - E - A - F (clockwise sequence)

Three people remain: B, C, G for the three remaining positions.

The circle continues: D - E - A - F - ? - ? - ? (back to D)

Since B is not neighbor of D, B cannot be in the position adjacent to D (position 7).

So position 7 must be either C or G.

Testing position 7 = G:

Arrangement: D - E - A - F - ? - ? - G

Remaining: B and C for positions 5 and 6.

Since B is not neighbor of G, B cannot be in position 6 (adjacent to G).

Therefore: B is in position 5, C is in position 6.

Final arrangement: D - E - A - F - B - C - G

Verifying all constraints:

  • E is neighbor of A and D: ✓ (E sits between D and A)
  • G is not between F and C: ✓ (B is between F and C on the shorter arc)
  • B is not neighbor of G and D: ✓ (B's neighbors are F and C)
  • F is immediate right of A: ✓

Checking each statement:

(A) A and B are sitting adjacent to each other.

A's neighbors are E and F. B is not adjacent to A. FALSE

(B) A is sitting immediately right of E.

In clockwise direction: E - A. TRUE

(C) F is second to the left of C.

From C counterclockwise: C - B - F. TRUE

(D) F and C are neighbors of B.

B sits between F and C. TRUE

Statements (B), (C), and (D) are correct.

The answer is Option 2.
