A car covers a certain distance in 7 hours with a uniform speed. The same distance could have been covered in 6 hours if the speed of the car was increased by 10 Km/h. What is the distance covered?

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 3

Let the original speed be ss km/h.

In the first scenario, the car travels for 7 hours at speed ss:

Distance =s×7=7s= s \times 7 = 7s

In the second scenario, the car travels for 6 hours at speed (s+10)(s + 10):

Distance =(s+10)×6=6(s+10)= (s + 10) \times 6 = 6(s + 10)

Since the distance is the same in both scenarios:

7s=6(s+10)7s = 6(s + 10)

7s=6s+607s = 6s + 60

7s−6s=607s - 6s = 60

s=60s = 60 km/h

The distance covered is:

Distance =7s= 7s

Distance =7×60= 7 \times 60

Distance =420= 420 km

Therefore, the distance covered is 420 km.
