The pie chart shows the percentage of total number of students (male and female) in different institutes affiliated with an educational council, whereas the radar graph shows the number of male students in the institutes. Let the total number of students in all the institutes taken together be 5500

Figure for BBA-DBE Bangalore 2024 Slot 1 QA question 2 (Data Interpretation)

If 25% of the female students from institute V are transferred to institute Z and 20% of the male students from institute Z are transferred to institute W, then after the transfer, the percentage (up to two decimal places) by which the number of students in institute Z are more than that of the students in institute U is _____.

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 4

Total students =5500= 5500, so 1%=551\% = 55 students.

Pie chart gives the total students (male + female) of each institute. Radar graph gives only the male students.

Totals before the transfer:

U =12×55=660= 12 \times 55 = 660

V =8×55=440= 8 \times 55 = 440

Z =20×55=1100= 20 \times 55 = 1100

Males (radar graph): V =200= 200, Z =700= 700

Female students in V =440−200=240= 440 - 200 = 240

25%25\% of them move into Z:

25100×240=60\dfrac{25}{100} \times 240 = 60 students join Z

20%20\% of the male students of Z move out to W:

20100×700=140\dfrac{20}{100} \times 700 = 140 students leave Z

Students in Z after the transfer =1100+60−140= 1100 + 60 - 140

=1020= 1020

U is not part of any transfer, so it stays at 660660.

Percentage by which Z is more than U =1020−660660×100= \dfrac{1020 - 660}{660} \times 100

=360660×100= \dfrac{360}{660} \times 100

=54.545…%= 54.545\ldots\%

≈54.55%\approx 54.55\%

Therefore, Z has 54.55%54.55\% more students than U.
