Two men on either side of a pole of 30 m high observe its top at angles of elevation α\alpha and β\beta respectively. The distance between the two men is 40340\sqrt{3} m and the distance between the first man at A and the pole is 30330\sqrt{3} m.

Based on the above information, answer the question:

The value of α\alpha is

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 3

In right triangle ABD with pole BD = 30 m and AD = 30330\sqrt{3} m: tan⁡α=BDAD=30303=13\tan\alpha = \frac{BD}{AD} = \frac{30}{30\sqrt{3}} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{3}}. Therefore α=30∘=π/6\alpha = 30^\circ = \pi/6.
