facing problem in RC

Anyone please check this solution and give a good suggestion or tip — I always end up choosing the wrong answer between the last two options in RCs.

but when I look at the answer i feel like I am stupid.

and one more thing is that if i take more time in reading the passage then my scores are less than that of reading it fast and revisiting to the para i notic it soo many times

This is the 4th/5th time where you've posted regarding RCs in the last 2-3 weeks but you're still skipping the 7th question.

If you're looking for advice (and you get it), please follow that. Else, it doesn't make sense, right?

You've just started going to the gym, you're not listening to us about your form (5-why analysis) or your diet (7th question), how do you expect to become better then? You can't "forget" the 7th question, you need to remove your lethargy.

Plus, the 5-why analysis requires you to ask "why" 5 times. It has been explained in the video with example. The video is linked in the "Help with VARC" document which I've linked multiple times in your posts. You need to take the initiative to go through it.

VARC is 80% contrasting your opinion with what the author's opinion was. If you're "always choosing the wrong answer between the last 2"... then always choose what you don't think is the answer. That's what Lekisha (100%iler in CAT's VARC) also shared in the recent AfterGrad video.

Also, many a times, the student just doesn't understand what was written -- this is more common that we think (at the same time, they also don't voice it out), in those cases, taking a screenshot and talking to GPT about the meaning of the passage helps a lot: https://chatgpt.com/share/6943b45a-8410-8012-931e-7c18e5ebdcfa

@parrypopat has explained it really well. I want you to now question yourself (taking the 3rd question as an example).

Why did you choose option 2? Does the passage talk about "professional behaviour"? It doesn't. You've associated her achievements/work as "professional behaviour". This is called hasty generalisation.

So, your "whys" should be:

Why did I choose option 2? Oh, I thought her work = professional behaviour.
Why did you think that? I guess I associated "professional behaviour" with the activities that one does in the workplace.
Why did I do that? Was Goodall called 'difficult' and face undue criticism? Yes.
But was the reason "professional behaviour"? No.
Why did I choose this answer then? I jumped to the conclusion. I should not see any option that has some associative words and mark it. I should look at the entire option as a whole.

...and so on.

The passage states:

Men who challenge convention are visionaries, mavericks, iconoclasts. Women who do the same are difficult

Do you know the meanings of visionaries, maverics, iconoclasts? All of these words refers to innovators, leaders of a generation, all the big-shots of their respective fields.

Plus, the word "reframing" in the option also supports the contrast (difference) that the passage is elucidating—if a man does it, it's praised; if a woman does it, they're called "difficult".

hey, feeling stupid is okay, it means you're learning :p

if you think your intuition is misleading you, choose the opposite ones.

i scored 19/24 in today's RC (got the 5th one wrong) lemme try and help you understand why you might've gotten the first 4 wrong.

options a&c focus more on challenging norms and her combattive personality--both of which aren't mentioned in the passage and are exaggerated here. option D talks about gaining recognitiont which isn't mentioned at all, leading us to option b.
this one was hard so gives yourself grace. option 1: no mention of earlier rejection so eliminate. option 2: while her methodology was unconventional, there's no mention of it being dismissed. option 3 is supe extreme. hence our answer 4.
the double standard of challenging norms is clearly mentioned in the passage.
option 1 is too surface level, misses the point, also emotional behaviour is mentioned but the question is about jane, not the chimps. option 2: no mention of classification, easily eliminated. option 4: personal naming is mentioned as a part of her methodology, not the only or the most revolutionary part.

assuming that you're a '26 tard, we still have time. also, please write the summary. mentally, when you know you are to write a summary at the end of the passage, you tend to pay more attention to the passage. also, read to *understand, *not just to answer. lmk if you need help with smth else.

Hey! Can you please tell me what to when we don't understand the language ( vocabulary) the answer used. Sometimes, I know what the answer is but the vocabulary makes me confuse and let's be honest ( no one can learn all the etymology and English words)

hi, aditya. when the rc or the options are on the tougher side, try to evaluate based on how extreme the options sound (try to look for words like never, always, strictly etc)which should help you get down to two options. then, there will always be a very minute difference between the remaining options and that tends to be in terms of scope (from what i've observed) one option might not take into accout a variable that has been mentioned in the passage at all while the other might do that. in other cases, it might be the interpretatation of those options. there's no set thought process unfortunately and you'll have to mess up and learn-- just try to read the questions after your mock and take about 20s to think of why the passage might support it or what value it adds to the para. there will be days when you spend 1min< on those questions and still be confused, and that is okay. learn to mark for review and move on. it's really difficult to navigate through these situations and unfortunately, there's not much to it than practicing. atb!
