And were you really shortlisted for the IPM Shillong interview and if yes then please share your overall experience and tips to ace it! (Like what questions were asked and were they giving importance to acads or ECAs and what was the conclusion etc...) 🤧
For context, I am a dropper and I was shortlisted was four interviews. Rohtak, Kozhikode, Amritsar and Shillong. They do not give a fuck about ECA's. In rohtak and Amritsar, ECA's were the absolute last question.
"Any extracurricular activities?"
I said yes and start telling them.
"Okay, you may leave"
In Kozhikode interview, they didn't even open my file. Only my Shillong interview was really ECA driven initially, but then again, it came down to economics and maths.
Just know your academics, that's the only advice I can give. I had the best score in IIMK BMSAT but the worst interview. Thus I was waitlisted at 280 something. For Shillong, my ipmat score was horrendous but my waitlist rank was in 50s something because I had arguably the best interview of my life. Heck, I think they might have given me close to full marks.
My point here is in the interview, if you can't answer your basic class 12th questions or basic GK questions (like I wasn't able to in Kozhikode interview) no extracurricular is going to save you. However, if you can answer (almost) everything, they probably won't even care about your ECA's.
Baaki, if you want what questions I was asked I can tell that aswell. Not adding in this as this message has already gotten long af
Exactly! I really wish people read this and stopped wasting their time in trying to collect aandu-paandu certificates/ECAs.
Wow thanks dude and yeah it would be great if you just point some of your questions asked! And one last question you told that you were shortlisted in 50s for Shillong so like were you really this close to get into shillong?🫨
Man, I think if I had a higher score, somewhere around 230s I might have got in. Anyways, as for questions I think I do have my rohtak transcript saved. I'll attach it in a different message. As for Amritsar, it was mainly accounts, micro economics and some questions. For example they asked me how do SIP's work, summarise balance sheet and questions related to some theory related to it, If LDMU works on money, some probability questions (card waale type), questions related to logarithm. (This is all I can remember 😭) For Shillong, half of my interview was around hypothetical business situations and what I would do. For example, sleek scooties which people don't use anymore, if I had to revive them then what would be my approach. Then I was asked name of 5 poets from my class 12th English book. I was able to tell only 1. One question was if idea matters more or the capital to finance that idea. Questions on income elasticity, inflation, probability questions, some basic derivatives. For Kozhikode, it was just inflation, how LRR affects inflation, neighbouring states, some HR questions etc.

Hats off bro!!! Thanks for taking your time and for typing this long! This would be very helpful in the upcoming days and I can bet that no youtube channel had even posted any content with these details regarding interview prep and I hope @afterboards post this conversation in their whatsapp channel since it's very helpful for peers🤧 Rest I am sure this year you would make it to IIM✨(along with me, hope so🕊️) good luck! 🍀

Anyways I didn't type rohtak one haha. It was saved so I just copy pasted it. Btw I did make it to an IIM (IIM Sambalpur 🤡) but I didn't go there, so yea. We'll both make it to IIM Indore. Good luck to you too, mate. 💪

May I ask how you are studying idioms? Like, what is the source and the process?
Source is a book I have. I use a website called active recall. Whenever I post idioms and phrasal verbs here, I make flashcards of the same on that website. They get repeated every 1, 3, 7, 14...days. I try to study and revise those flashcards everyday.
