
Where an I going wrong? I took sin x as 1 and -1 because that is it's min and max value

maximum is 17/4 and minimum is 2
using derivatives would be an easier approach.....since there is a + and a - sign simultaneousy we simply can't judge by assuming the values as x can also assume the values other than that....taking +1 and -1 works only for simpler situations where we have either sinx or cosx that too with same sign at every variable .
