A little background - I am a partial dropper and i scored around 32/16/106 last year in IPMAT Indore, and around 270 in JIPMAT. I am pursuing IIMB BBA DBE side by side. My category is general.I scored 29/39/28 in IIMB UG exam.
I try to attempt a mock every week, and since 2026 I have decided to attempt 4/5sectionals (2 SA, 2 VA, 1 MCQ)and 1-2 Mocks ( 1 IPMAT Indore, 1 JIPMAT/Rohtak) every week
Syllabus completion- TBH I never really focused much on picking a topic and going through videos of it, i tried it for QA for like two weeks and covered arithmetic,number system, modern maths
Academic Background- 93.4/98.6
Main concerns -
1)How do I increase my scores for VA? from mid-november to mid-december, i maintained a streak of solving a VA sectional everyday(i did it for 30 days) , and i analysed them all thoroughly. I ended up scoring 100+ towards the end, with around 10-15 hard questions,20-25 medium and 10 easy ones.But somehow, i always score below 100 in the mocks. I don't know what goes wrong honestly.
2)I had applied maths in +2 and hence, i am unable to solve trignometry based questions 90% of the time. I have gone through all the formulas and i remember most of them, but i think, I really need to solve a ton of questions in order to implement those concepts
I have attached the screenshots of my last few mocks,sectionals,my swot analysis,RC,DILR scores etc

c)Saw the daily RC analysis, you’re performing better than the avg score on most days, keep it up!!😊
try to read as voraciously as possible alongside attempting the dailyRCs (non negotiable).
Hindu editorials are the way to go to train your mind to understand difficult, opinionated pieces. Since you’ve written ipmat’25, I assume you’re also trying to broaden your RC prep by doing not just article-like/ opinion based pieces, but also diverse stuff like conversation analysis etc..
d) for vocabulary (one of the threats), start with WPME if you haven’t already, good book to build a strong foundation. If you’ve read it already, then the previous tip applies for building vocabulary besides maintaining a log of new words you come across- v useful to go through in the last few days leading upto the exam.
As for para-jumbles, it’s always a risky gamble with this one but nevertheless, you can still ace them. I’d recommend that whenever you get one wrong, try figuring out the logic and write it down alongside the logic you applied (would highly recommend the 5 why analysis, specifically here). After a while, you’ll start noticing patterns and it’ll be easier for you to gauge just exactly what kind of PJs you’re getting wrong and why. A 38% accuracy right now might seem a little demotivating, but you can improve it with consistent practice.
Lastly, consistency is single handedly the most important thing for VA, followed by familiarity and comfort with the language, so make VA a part of your daily prep routine!
Good that you attempted sectionals everyday for a month straight, current frequency of 2 sectionals every-week works as long as you do a proper, IN-DEPTH analysis of your mistakes, quality>>>quantity ALWAYS (esp for VA).
c) reading is one habit i haven't really inculcated, but i would try it out. where can i find hindu editorials? are they available online?
d)i have completed about 30 sessions of WPME, will keep doing that.
thanks a ton for sharing all of this btw <3
c) Reading is a non-negotiable to improve your VA scores. It'll aid in all types of questions, not just vocab.
You can join this whatsapp group to get the daily Hindu newspaper-

d) yess, continue doing WPME and keep going back to the sessions you've already done to help retain the vocab better. (make sure to go through idioms/phrases+ grammar rules as well!)
Hi!
Adressing your concerns;
a) Its very normal for sectional scores>> VA score in mocks, given the fact the section is placed at the end in the actual exam so by the time you attempt it, the mental exhaustion takes a toll. Attempting the VA sectionals as a stand alone and then comparing the sectional and mock score will be demotivating so avoid doing that please. Something you can try doing is plan your study sessions this way- attempt the VA sectional post studying quants instead of doing it first. I did this during the course of my prep since I faced the exact same problem and initially it seemed very draining but over a period of time, you’ll be able to train your brain to do better at VA, not just knowledge wise but also under exam-like conditions. And I cannot stress enough on just how vital it is to replicate the exam-centre like environment while attempting mocks from the comfort of your home – so no noise cancelling headphones, no bg music etc(basically any added comfort you’re giving yourself at home which won’t be there in the exam hall- try to eliminate it). Extremely sorry for the digression, this is just something I learnt the hard-way.
b) Scoring 100+ in VA right now is alright, you’ve still got 4 months but have a goal of scoring 125/130+ in the actual exam to be on the safer-side, given the cut-off for indore’25 was 112 for gen.
a) that's a good idea, will definately try it, thanks for sharing
b) i haven't been able to improve my scores :/ i really want to get 140+ in VA in the actual exam. what can i do to improve my score?
Focus on reading, daily RCs followed by the summary question (try to use the vocab/idioms etc you've learnt there, it'll help you gauge how well you've actually grasped new info), do the 5-why analysis for your mistakes (game-changer really), keep attempting sectionals and mocks followed by a proper analysis. There's no short-cut to improving VA scores, be patient and consistent with your efforts and you'll get there!!
good luck:)))

For Quants;
Your scores (sectionals) so far seem pretty good, clearly the prep method you've designed for yourself is working well. However, since you have the time, I'd recommend going through the syllabus topic-wise as well, it'll help strengthen the foundation you've already built and smooth out any cracks(for instance you mentioned that you've covered the topic-modern math but the accuracy for a few sub-topics of modern math is a threat as per the SWOT analysis).
For geometry, I'd suggest starting with the basics. It alright if you're unable to attempt the tough questions, for a few topics you're particularly struggling with, having a rudimentary understanding of the concepts and theorems>> skipping the topic entirely. IPMAT 2024 and 2025 had a significant number of geometry questions so the latter isn't a very wise option. You never know what the exam will be like.
For trigonometry, attempting as many questions as you can is the only way out. Memorising the formulae will only take you so far. You can use the math (core) ncert pdf for grade 11 besides the afterboards questionbank as an additional source to familiarise yourself with the questions if you'd like.
Keep practicing and analysing your errors, wishing you all the very best for the exam, I'm sure you'll ace it!
Alright, do you think i should only go through the topics which are in the weaknesses/threats section as per my SWOT?or all?
will do, where should i study geometry from? any particular yt playlist?
I'd suggest first going through your weak areas since you seem to have a good base for the other topics. This way you'd be acquainted with all the topics once rather than being really good at some and struggling a lot with a few. Then start going through the others as well.
for geometry, you can try studying from MBA pathshala and Rodha lectures besides the questionbank and videos on afterboards.
