In the semifinals, they've not mentioned if it is round-robin or knock-out. The solution has considered it to be knock-out. How do we assume that?

Depends upon how the playoffs are played
So for example there are 2 major ways in which playoffs are played
In tournaments like fifa World Cup,
The first team will play the last team (+1 match)
The second team will play 3 team (+1)
Whichever looses gets eliminated immediately
The winning teams play the final (+1)
So this makes the total of 75 matches played
Now there is another system of quarter finals followed in league like IPL
Where ,
1 team plays 2 (whichever wins qualify for finals)
3rd plays 4th ( whichever looses gets eliminated)
The looser of the first match and the winner of the 2 match gets paired ( whichever wins qualify for the finals)
So here in total there are 76 matches.
Question has not stated anything about quarter finals so assume that it's standard playoffs system

Semifinals are literally one step below finals as the name itself is semi-final, every tournament in real life considers it as knockout, I think thats pretty obvious to assume.
Plus it is stated that they advance to finals aswell
Oh! I got it. If it were round-robin, only two teams could not move to the finals as there would be 6 matches. only knockout can give 2 winners with 4 teams. Thanks!
