In the last question why is b's share 18/52 and not 18% of the sales? The question also states that "while the remaining products contributed proportionally to their sales share" and b product's share is 18%

if you check the whole solution you will see the explaniation just above this

Since The problem states:

  • Product A + Product D = 60% of total returns
  • Products B, C, E = remaining 40% of returns
  • These remaining products contribute proportionally to their sales share

From Table 2, East region sales percentages:

  • Product B = 18%
  • Product C = 20%
  • Product E = 14%
  • Total of B+C+E = 18%+20%+14% =52%

out of the remaining 52% B's share is 18/52
