doubt
what will be the correct approach to solve this? how should one start? i have tried b^2-4ac it didnt worked i tried by simplifying the equation in that also i am not able to solve
what is this step? i know that we got the critical points as ax=b and bx=c but after that what happened is out of my blue .

As the question mentions 'possible values of x', we should always think of the relationship between the roots of the equation.
In Ax²+Bx+C=0, let's say p and q are the roots, therefore p+q=(-B/A) and p.q=C/A .
And since we are looking for p²+q² we go for an algebraic identity with contains the three,
one such identity is (p+q)²=p²+q²+2pq . This approach might help you get your answer.
Wait this question is something else. It uses golden ratio.
