It is what it is
Hi everyone,
I’m a 2027 IPMAT aspirant, and I just wanted to express myself here , this isn’t really a doubt or a question.
I’ve been thinking of joining offline coaching for IPMAT. I don’t know exactly why, but I feel I need that structure and environment. The thing is, my parents are divorced, and financially they’re not very supportive when it comes to coaching iykyk Still, I genuinely want to try my luck with IPMAT and JIPMAT. I’ll be appearing for CUET as well, but IPMAT is something I really want to experience and give my best to.
I discussed this with my big brother, and he understands my situation because he went through something similar at my age. He feels the fees aren’t worth it and suggests going for a professional course or a government college instead. I don’t completely disagree with him ,his advice is practical but it’s just not where my interest truly lies
I guess I’m just venting and releasing some stress here, trying to make sense of my thoughts. Sorry if this comes across as a rant I just needed a space to put this out.

Heya, first of all i feel like that structure comes from your own self discipline and not an offline coaching, you can easily prepare very well with just one or two proper resources, one resource and multiple revisions do wonders, coming back to the exam thing whether you should appear for a certain exam or not, it totally depends on your own circumstances, general advice is to appear for as many as possible but IPM gives you a safety net for MBA which you lack in other good government colleges which you get through CUET, but then again it has its own cons as well, i would suggest you to make a proper pros and cons list and weigh your options well before filling up the forms for any college, CUET also sounds great as long as you know what is your end goal and how are you gonna utilise your years in a particular college, and whether cracking CAT is an end goal for you or not, other than that if you wish to opt for any professional courses, thats totally upto you, and if you want the proper B school experience then yes go for IPMAT.

It is certainly not at all necessary to pay up for coachings in 11th grade - keep them for 12th grade if at all. If there are financial constraints totally skip coachings - they just give you a framework or an illusion of discipline, not worth paying 50k for. Self-prep resources like mocks/practice providing platforms are more than enough if you have basic competence.
As for the career dilemma, yes there are plenty good options that are cheap as well - SRCC & other DU colleges in particular. You can go for them they are at par with UGs at IIM given you can crack CAT later. The main appeal for IPM is the guaranteed MBA from a premiere institute we get access too, and believe me it's extremely tough to crack CAT (given you are a general candidate), you need much more than just aptitude test score there. If you are someone who is extremely smart, with respect to your category, and will likely build a great profile by the end of your UG you don't need this layer of security.
