Hey there! I'm in the same sticky situation as you are, and although I'm not sure what I am doing myself, I would still like to share my plan because perhaps that might give you a blueprint. I've been doing serious JEE prep for the past two years (took a dummy school and everything)- earlier I would score solid 180s in JEE mains and 90s / 180 in JEE adv mocks. But once the full-length tests started, my scores went downhill. Now, the full syllabus JEE mocks I write, I score around 110-115. I've genuinely worked hard, mostly because my parents wanted me to do engineering and I had already put in a lot of money for offline coaching and textbooks, etc.

My switch to IPMAT came into place when I heard about the IIM Bangalore BSc program, so I bought Afterboards as most IPMers on YouTube suggested it. Even though I skewed my initial mocks (got around 110/360, way below cutoffs), with a month of serious prep for IIM Bangalore, my peak score has reached around 261/360, so it's doable. I scored 120/180 in the IIMB UGAT, but haven't gotten the interview call yet.

Now I've switched to JEE prep because it's barely 20 days away. Even though I don't want to pursue engineering, I can't let two years of JEE prep go down the drain (ik the sunk cost fallacy and everything, I just don't have the guts). Afterwards, I'm gonna start full-fledged boards prep (I'm in Maharashtra state board, so even 85+ is miraculous), and once boards are over, IPMAT will be my sole goal. I'm confident that I (and you) can manage IPMAT prep in a month. Yes, it will demand long days- you will have to burn the midnight lamp. But if you are focused and tackle the one thing that's in front of you right now, you will perform much better than just diving into everything with a messy headspace and no game plan. Remember, the sun's rays don't burn unless brought to a focus!

I know my answer was quite long; I was trying to give you a full picture. I hope this helps you in some way. Lastly, stop regretting all the wasted time, forgive yourself and move ahead!

Great u get good marks in iimb exam u feel much good scores u if u from Maharashtra and i do from Maharashtra u must easily get marks enough marks for ur mh cet just personal opinion my question was for seeking help i almost wasted 11 and 70 percent of 12 and jee cam be possible and i do things lightly and i started seeking for other option then i took after boards am still stuck in practising and completeing syllabus for ipm or i must do jee and or i must am for boards and after ipm and then mh cet is also a good option and then am stuck and choice paralysis and seeked some help i didn't get the needful and now mostly probably i will only study for boards ipm and mh cet why is it am not kinda person which i think i can get i will plan 10 option and pick one of it bur when the problem come execution and path to work on if ur doing everything u doing nothing and whats my biggest problem is my parents to a searching for a pvt collage and the asking me to go for every exam possible any one of it cant get but they aren't wrong am bit able to give them confidence they to buyed me afterboards a what if thing i may get into and iim probably i will more foucus on ipm and mh cet and mine reply is to long but u were close to what am i going through and also help if am going anywhere wrong thank u

Hi, i am also doing the same. But i dont understand that even if i get admission into iimb ug data science course does it make sense over iit. like iit and iim indore ipm is still more prestigious with higher packages to offer as compared to iimb. plus computer science makes more sense than data science. also being a new course, i dont understand why many iit aspirants gave it. like i gave it just as a mock for practice and i scored around 100. i am just asking your mindset like why do you consider iimb ug course superior over established iits and iims.

i asked CHATGPT and it said that average package after ug at iimb will be around 13-17 lakhs. are you planning to do something more after iimb ug if u get admission into it?

please answer. it will give me more clarity and help me understand the situation better.

See, IIMB isn't my first choice. If I get a good IIT (which seems nearly impossible rn) / NIT that'll definitely be my first choice (especially considering the fees IIMB is taking). But my parents don't want me to leave Tech, so I'm skeptical whether they'll let me take Indore/ Rohtak even if I get in. In that case, ill probably have to go for private colleges (BITS, MIT etc), which will take roughly the same fees as IIMB, but I'll get the IIM tag and ecosystem. That translates into a lot of value, I wouldn't dismiss it because ChatGPT said so. Also, I'm not too concerned with placements because I'll go for CFA/ MBA along with my UG/ afterwards which will eventually get me the ROI. That being said, it depends on your risk appetite. I'm willing to bet on a brand new course with that large a sum because that's what an IIM environment and tag means to me; but you may not and that's perfectly fine. You can look into DU colleges which will be financially cheaper and safer. (Small side note: the notion that Computer Science is better than Data Science is kinda outdated, no offence- but I'd highly recommend you to research into that. Because with AI automating most coding jobs, mass layoffs in CS are pervasive. That isn't the case with Data Science, specifically Acturial Science with risk analysis, so it's an AI automation-proof field).

when is say comp science makes more sense than data sciene i intend to mean that comp science includes data science as a subject. data science i feel is a more narrow and specialized subject involving math and stats but comp science is just broader.

My purpose to ask was to understand that if you are interested in management courses ( as your name suggests) then why are inclined towards a Bsc degree. but thanks for answering

hey, im kinda in the same boat as you. could you elaborate on how did you pull your scores from 110 to 261?? im scoring around 150s in ipmat mocks and i want to improve on it as well?

These are the things I did (in order of importance)

Consistency. I've given 30+ mocks and did not cross the 200 benchmark until the 11th one. Once I did, I was unstoppable. Don't give up in between, stay patient, results like these don't grow linearly- they grow exponentially.
SWOT Analysis/ 5-Why Analysis. Analyse and scrutinise your papers like a hawk. Was it a conceptual error? Time pressure? Blind guess? Then make sure you eliminate it to never repeat the mistake. One thing I would highly advise for this is to post your past mocks scores and SWOT analysis here on the forum so Bhavesh Bhaiya or someone experienced might give you a good review. You might feel shy or embarrased, but it's worth the outcome
Concept gaps- I haven't "studied" theory for IPMAT even for a single day. I just directly went for the mocks because I didn't have the time. What I instead did, is identify the gaps or conceptual errors I made incessantly. Only then would I watch videos for that concept (I've faced this issue for LR, inpput output, statement reason etc. Coz of JEE and ICSE, my math and english were decent). Don't sit and watch any concept video under the sky and think " Oh, I'm being productive"- no, you're not. You're getting little to no benefit them. Watch specifically those one shots which I've mentioned, with a notebook and pen for due notes. Lastly, believe in yourself! I know its a nauseating platitude, but really that's the key. Repeat it to yourself whenever you're upset because of a mock or you overthink. Keep showing up everyday no matter what, and one day it'll happen.

Some of my friends lent me mocks from IMS, and I gave free ones from SuperGrads and AceIPM. But I found AfterBoards to be the best because I can analyse my mistakes and keep a track conveniently, and the level of questions remains consistent with the actual exam. That being said, if you're someone who can't give mocks properly at home (coz of the environment or tendencies to cheat), I'd recommend an offline test series. Although I haven't given any offline mocks, I can't recommend any specific coaching.

Okay, I've mentioned a few points in the comment above; you can review them. For VA specifically, I started attempting 2 RCs a day, without fail. The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is attempt an RC to avoid procrastination. Secondly, if you have the time, I HIGHLY recommend Word Power Made Easy (if not now, definitely read it after your board exams). Primarily because this book doesn't just "list" words (like Arun Sharma), it actually teaches you how to incorporate them into your daily usage. Last but not least, exploit and make full use of the tools available on AfterBoards- spaced repetition for new words, idioms and phrases flashcards, and the Analyse Section. English is all about recall; the more you see a word, the better you understand its usage. So, go through the Analyse section and review your mistakes regularly.

Firstly -- you can't do all of it at once. Something needs to be compromised because not everything has overlapping syllabus.

If you're doing JEE and IPM, focus on one priority. If it is JEE, have that as goal-1 while doing a little bit of Verbal Ability (side-by-side) for IPMAT. Having >90% in boards is fine. Don't try to put too much effort in going from a 91% to a 98% -- this energy can be better invested in these entrance exams.

Right now, if IPMAT is your goal-1, can you share your mock scores? if you haven't written yet -- please write one, it'll give us an idea of where you stand and then provide actionable steps!

hank you for taking the time to look at this, Bhavesh bhaiya . These are my actual mock scores, and I know they reflect where I truly stand right now. I want to be clear that I’m not aiming for 90%+ in boards if I can secure 80%+, I’ll be satisfied. My main concern is building a solid launch pad for my career. I understand that my current priorities may reduce my chances of getting into top colleges, and I’m aware that I’m not a topper. That’s exactly why I’m reaching out for guidance. I’d really appreciate your help in setting realistic priorities and a focused plan so I can make the best possible outcome from where I am today.

Bhai no offence but how are you a JEE aspirant and scoring 6/180 in QA? Same with VA, 18/180? Are you trolling or are you genuinely serious?

I too am a jee aspirant. I know it seems ridiculous reading this(if u arent a jee aspirant)but I will be honest here, maths is not a scoring part in jee mains specifically. Even teachers in our coaching talk statistically about how to put ur focus on the scoring subjects( in physics and chemistry u need to attempt 20 questions to get 99 percentile while in maths only 12 out of 25 (sometimes only 4 questions with 100 accuracy leads to that, 0 marks in maths JEE Mains leads to 67 percentile in maths, due to people getting negative score)that's because the time spent in 1 maths question, u can solve around 2 questions of physics and 3 of chemistry.)We have physics and chem that can get u 99 percentile too leading to the top 3 NITS. Many NEET aspirants also qualify jee (mains) only through physics and chemistry. So alot of us jee aspirants focus 80% on both of them.(some people ignore maths completely)Maths is somehow compromised. The way the person is concerned doesnt seem it's a troll but an early self realisation.You also need to be really good at maths to qualify JEE Advance to get an IIT, but I am taking specifically about JEE MAINS and people who aim for NITS only.) I know jee aspirants are assumed to be conversant with maths and its right to assume it. But, assuming EVERYONE is like that, may be wrong. Just sharing an average student POV belonging to this category.may or may not be the case for this person,however I seriously dont see this as a troll. I infact appreciate sharing this score here, many would hesitate to do that too out of embarrassment. And with JEE mains being 20 days away, I too feel stressed juggling between both JEE and IPMAT. but well, that's life!

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't judging him or anything like that. I'm from a commerce background so as you said, I also had the preconceived notion that jee aspirants are supposed to be better than maths. If physics and chemistry really is prioritised and maths gets compromised, then I can see this as a genuine query.

Also, now that you say it, this might make students from non maths and commerce/arts with maths background better as we obviously assume that science students outshine in maths on average lol.

I am not doubting your intent, was just clarifying anyone who would think the same.

Talking about the streams without maths, anyone can be good at maths coz it's a subject that needs practice and confidence irresepective of your streams.The non maths background would have chosen to leave maths due to a reason,which mostly is the fear of maths.Once that's overcomed, no one can stop them. however they arent in touch with maths for a few years, which isnt the case for maths background.

I would like to mention that for boards and during the 2 years of jee prep,also for advance,also to be able to stay in an NIT in the branches requiring maths (highest paid branches), u do have to study maths really well and so it's common to see any JEE aspirant being good at maths.but again, 90%, not 100.

At this stage, you need to start your prep from scratch. If you're a general candidate, I'd rather you focus on either Boards + CUET or Boards + JEE. I would not recommend IPMAT especially seeing an 18 in the VA section where the cutoff was 112.

In the limited time, it would be quite difficult -- instead of spreading your time, let's focus on 2 things which can be done properly.
