IIM Bangalore (New UG Programme Update)
Information known so far:
- Exam will be in December (LoD is speculated to be similar to IPMAT Indore)
- 4 year UG programme (BSc Econ, BSc Data Science) with 40 students in each course.
- Maths in class 12 with a minimum of 60%
- 8.5 lakhs/annum fees.
- Satellite campus (Jagni) in Bangalore.

By when can we expect the details of the exam to be out , the pattern/sections and , what do you think this is more of a liberal arts model ? Any opinions on the programme?

I personally love the liberal arts model.
Can't judge the programme properly until someone experiences it. On paper, almost every programme of IIMs look good (albeit the fees -- which is a subjective parameter based on the individual's economical background).
How would you weigh this against the programme of indore shillong or ranchi and how does the nuances play out for these degrees and colleges like some would prefer ranchi over indore for it's culture , I know it might not be possible to possibly judge it now but any input would help on what the differences might be.
The curriculum (IPM's BBA and IIM-B's BSc in DS/Econ are poles apart) and degree. So, the choice of what the individual wishes to study plays a huge role. I'd never take BSc Econ. It doesn't make me as interested as a combination of liberal arts. I'd study philosophy the whole day instead of solving Econ questions using calculus.
Many IIM officials are planning to make these new 4-year UG programmes to be equivalent to BTech (in terms of employability). It's a good ambition -- we don't know how the market would react though. You're not getting an MBA unlike the regular IPM. This might be a dealbreaker for some (not all). The safety net of MBA goes away.
Is preparing for IPMAT enough for this bhaiya?
Don't think in terms of "sufficiencies", think in terms of "necessities".
If you don't do this or equivalent, then toh chances definitely nahi hoga.

will there be all facilities like in other iim of sports etc?
It's a new campus, have lower expectations for the initial few years. There's no official information on this front so far.
The placements after completing the program be similar to an MBA-specific placement?
We don't know. There's no empirical data. You can either rely on faith or your personal competency where you have the confidence to opt out of placements the minute the email comes and get an off-campus job that blows all the on-campus job roles.

The newspaper report is the official source. It was a press release from IIM Bangalore iirc. However, I've seen (in the past) that there are some differences in the paper reports and what is finally implemented. Best to wait for official website intimation.

Will gk be a part of examination? If yes then how should one prepare for it?
We don't know if GK will be part of the entrance test (no official information yet). The 5 points in the above post is the extent of the information known.
However, if it is part of the exam, you can then start reading and following current affairs. Your GK knowledge becomes a byproduct of you being a good management student. Plus, there are a lot of booklets and YouTube videos for the same.
Suppose I completed my 12th with less than 60% previous year. Can i give the exam and I plan on giving maths through NIOS. If i get selected for the program and score more than 60% on the maths exam and am able to provide my marksheet at the time of admission, will that be acceptable?
We cannot give a guarantee on this. Only their admissions office can give clarity. I suppose they'll form the committee and task-force once the form is live.
