Can low board marks be compensated in IIM Ranchi/Rohtak through high IPMAT scores?
If a candidate has low board scores (e.g. 63–66%), can this realistically be compensated by a very high IPMAT score and a strong interview, given that the interview weightage is limited (~15%)?
Or does such a board-score gap make Ranchi/Rohtak difficult, making it more sensible to focus on maximising IPMAT scores instead?

Yes, IPMAT scores matter the most. However, understand the nuance:

Very low board marks are hard to fully compensate in IIM Ranchi/Rohtak. If someone is scoring very high in IPMAT, they are more likely to convert Indore anyway (as compared to Ranchi).
IIM Ranchi has made their board exam % to points conversion public:
Here's a simulation wrt IIM Ranchi if the candidate has (say) 63% in 10th (SSC) and 66% in 12th (HSC):
Even after a near-perfect IPMAT + interview, the low board score candidate still has a lower score.
If you're a general candidate with below 75% or 80% in 10th and 12th -> you'll have a tough time converting Ranchi or Rohtak. This isn't an absolute "impossible" statement, it's more of an improbable scenario.
