Frequently asked questions:

What does NEP-compliant mean?

It means that you can exit after every year and still come out with some certificate/diploma/degree. The New Education Policy (NEP) doesn't want anyone to be considered a drop-out.

Can I exit after 3 years?

Yes, in the cases of IPM (BBA/BA/BSc+MBA), you are allowed to leave after 3 years with just your bachelors degree. Many write CAT and join top colleges, some get a job... some people travel the world (can't relate, boht ganda motion sickness hai).

It will be great to list colleges other than IIMs as for back ups.. especially for non-maths people.

Sharing the college-preference list that we had made:

The best college... is the college that accepts you. Please don't have the mindset of only applying to one college (CUET is one of the best backup options because that 1 exam leads to 100s of colleges). It's better to reject colleges than to be rejected from the only college you applied to.

Based on our subjective opinion:

  1. IIM Indore / SRCC / SSCBS / St. Stephens
  2. IIM Shillong (can place higher too: low UG fees & exit)
  3. IIM Ranchi / Some DU North (depending on course/college) / IIM Kozhikode
  4. IIM Rohtak (can place higher if you want to choose Rohtak's MBA and not write CAT)
  5. IIM Amritsar (if interested in finance-econ, else, place Amritsar lower; however, if you don't want the headache of CAT, can place it here)
  6. IIM Jammu >= Bodhgaya (lower fees) >= Xaviers / NMIMS / Symbiosis (main campuses)
  7. IIM Sirmaur / IIFT Kakinada (no official information about centralised placements)
  8. IIM Sambalpur / Nalsar
  9. Christ / Nirma / NFSU / TAPMI

Note: A student from Nalsar could end up more successful than someone from IIM Indore too. College is just your y-intercept, the slope is decided by you!

Alt-colleges like MU, Mesa, TETR are fine options (yes, their marketing is a bit intrusive). However, if you're a student-entrepreneur + have the finances, visit the campus, don't dismiss it outrightly on the basis of random strangers online.

Also, curriculum does play a role. Understand that IPM is an amalgamation of business + liberal arts. It is different from the traditional BBA or the BCom at DU.

Note: Colleges that accept IPMAT Indore scores have to be registered separately.

Where would Ashoka University rank in this list?

2

Kinda depends on your wishes. For purely placements id say around amritsar, Jammu, bg. Keep in mind a LOT of the top kids get out in masters and thus don't show up in the overall placements.

For actual learning, near the top. Faculty is top notch, and lots of good pedagogical choices by admin.

Anyways, it's a must apply cause the application is free, and there is a VERY high chance you get fin aid

Where does IIM B bsc rank in this list ?

1

It's a new programme... so, we don't really have more information, based on student experiences/sentiment, we will be able to map it.

Currently, it is also a completely different course, personal interests also play a huge role.

5

Where does IIT Mandi's program rank in this list?

2

Between 3 to 6 — very dependent on your interests as it is vastly different from IPM (course-wise).

Found this online (other people also corroborated this):

What's the reason behind nmims and symbiosis being ranked higher than Christ and tapmi?

1

IIM Mumbai recently published an article in the newspaper for its UG course. Could you share your thoughts on the same? (Most other online sources are contradictory and confusing.)

2

can we expect IIM Lucknow as soon as next yr?

2

Based on internal sentiments, we can expect it for the 2026 aspirants. However, this is not confirmed, anything could happen.

2

Will SAT scores be accepted for an Indian candidate (one who doesn't have foreign passport/ citizenship) in IIM Kozhikode ?

1

In the case of IIM-Kozhikode (Kochi), yes! (Unless they change their policy this year).

Can i get a list of IPM/UG programmes which gives specialization in UG but not a general BBA/BMS

1

Hi Varun: IIM Bangalore, IIM Amritsar, IIM Sambalpur.

3

Is General Test necessary in CUET for IIM Bangalore (DBE) and Sambhalpur?

1

Yes, it is! BBA-DBE was accepting GAT scores; Sambalpur accepted GAT+English.

1

Then there is no need to give dbe entrance test?

1

Yes. If you're submitting CUET-GAT scores, you don't have to write the BBA-DBE test... however, if you wish, you can write it too (and submit both the scores -- they'll choose the best one).
