CLAT 2027

I'm wondering if I should fill out the form for CLAT 2027. I'm already filling out the form for AILET since the syllabus is sorta similar to IPMAT just the extra GK part. CLAT's form fee is 4k, my mom said that ion have to worry about money but i still dont wanna waste 4k incase the paper doesnt go well and thats the dilemma im in like what if i dont fill out the form cuz of my fear and i regret it later plus I havent studied legal reasoning so i'll have to study that too if i fill clat ka form. clat is on 6th dec and ailet is on 13th dec what to dooooo💔

hey, as someone in somewhat of a similar situation as you lemme put out my thoughts.

  1. I have studied in Bengaluru for 7 years, making me eligible to claim Karnataka as my home state and obtain the said reservation for nlsiu. On top of that, I am currently in Hyderabad since 3 years (4th year ongoing), making me eligible to do the same for nalsar as well. I was born in Maharashtra and my mom (who works a transferable job) owns property there, making me eligible to again, do the same for all 3 NLUs in Maharashtra. Both my mom and dad are from odisha and hold domicile there, again making me eligible to claim odisha as my home state. I am also an athlete and i believe I have a fair chance at getting into gnlu gandhinagar through sports quota. Counting all of this, there are 8-odd very good colleges that I have a real shot at. Mind you, these are much better than any iim (except indore and blr) in my opinion. This makes clat a genuinely viable backup option for me. Heck, i may even consider nls or nalsar over indore if the time arises
  1. what exactly are your mock scores like? I am personally maintaining a score above 85 even in the toughest mocks and ik giving gk a final push in the 2 weeks after iimb will most likely push my score to 90, even 95+. which is enough to crack nls and nalsar in my case. It's upto YOU to judge your current base and ceiling, and if it's possible to get into your desired college in the limited time remaining. only write clat if you think it's possible to do something through it.
  1. how do you feel about law as a career? Mind you, it is nothing like suits. If you wanna know what law in india actually looks like, I highly suggest going to a high court for an afternoon and observing how things run there. That will tell you everything you need to know about pursuing law in India. By your skepticism, I am assuming you'll be a first-gen lawyer. In that case, getting into a good law school is not even 20% of the work done. If you don't like the profession as a whole, then getting through law school is worse than hell.

Honestly, I think you need to ask yourself one thing: would you genuinely consider taking admission through CLAT if you got a good result?

If yes, then definitely fill the form and give the exam. Since you're already preparing for AILET, a lot of the syllabus will overlap, so you'll mainly need to put in some extra effort for Legal Reasoning. It's worth trying for a college you'd actually want to attend.

But if the answer is no, then there's no point spending ₹4k just because of FOMO. You can focus that time and energy on IPMAT and AILET instead. 💗
