I'm getting 4,500 as such-
NVAmp = Sales - Excise duty - Import duty + Change in stock - Depreciation - Intermediate cost
= 800*20 - 1600 - 400 - 500 - 1000 - 8000
= 4,500

I think when they are asking for net value added at market prices, we aren't supposed to subtract or add subsidies and taxes (import duties and excise duties). Net value added measures the value added by the firms. So, the calculation would be 16000 (sales) -1000 (depreciation) -8000 (intermediate costs) -500 (change in stocks) = 6500, which is what the answer is! I guess we need to take into account the subsidies and taxes while calculating basic prices.
