Which of the following list of numbers is/are an Arithmetic Progression?

(A) -2, 2, -2, 2, -2, ...

(B) 1, -1, -3, -5, ...

(C) 21, 18, 15, ...

(D) 20, 17, 14, 11, ...

Choose the correct answer from the options given below:

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 4

An AP needs a constant common difference. In (A) the differences alternate between +4+4 and −4-4, so it is not an AP. In (B) d=−2d = -2, in (C) d=−3d = -3 and in (D) d=−3d = -3, all constant. Hence only (B), (C) and (D) are APs.
