Give necessary journal entry for recording goodwill, when there is no goodwill appearing in the books of the firm.

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 2

When the incoming partner cannot bring his share of goodwill in cash, his Current Account is debited rather than his Capital Account, so that his agreed capital stays intact at 50,00050,000.

The credit goes to the sacrificing partners in their sacrificing ratio 3:23:2: Harish 15,000×35=9,00015,000 \times \frac{3}{5} = 9,000 and Munish 15,000×25=6,00015,000 \times \frac{2}{5} = 6,000.
