At the time of change in profit sharing ratio, what will be the impact of reduction in the value of investment by 20% assuming existing book value of investments in balance sheet as Rs. 2,40,000 and there is an investment fluctuation reserve existing in balance sheet at Rs. 30,000?

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 4

Fall in value =2,40,000×20%=48,000= 2,40,000 \times 20\% = 48,000.

Investment Fluctuation Reserve absorbs the fall first, up to 30,00030,000.

Excess fall =48,000−30,000=18,000= 48,000 - 30,000 = 18,000, which is debited to Revaluation A/c as a loss.

The reserve of 30,00030,000 is fully used up and nothing is distributed among the partners from it.
