Murli, Naveen and Omprakesh are partners sharing profits in the ratio of 3 /8 , 1/2 and 1/8 . Murli retires and surrenders 2/3rd of his share in favour of Naveen and the remaining share in favour of Omprakesh. The gaining ratio of the remaining partners is-

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 2

Initial profit sharing ratio of Murli, Naveen and Omprakesh = 3/8 : 1/2 : 1/8

Converting to common denominator (8):

= 3/8 : 4/8 : 1/8 = 3 : 4 : 1

When Murli retires, his share (3/8) is distributed as follows:

Naveen gains = 23\frac{2}{3} of Murli's share = 23×38=624=14\frac{2}{3} \times \frac{3}{8} = \frac{6}{24} = \frac{1}{4}

Omprakesh gains = 13\frac{1}{3} of Murli's share = 13×38=324=18\frac{1}{3} \times \frac{3}{8} = \frac{3}{24} = \frac{1}{8}

Gaining Ratio = Share gained by Naveen : Share gained by Omprakesh

= 14:18\frac{1}{4} : \frac{1}{8}

= 28:18\frac{2}{8} : \frac{1}{8}

= 2 : 1

The correct answer is Option 2: 2:1
