Read the given sentences carefully and choose the grammatically incorrect options:

A. After Sir Davos Seaworth was punished for smuggling, he had three less fingernails to clean.

B. I am irked every time my cousin introduces me as her older sister; I am only six months older than her!

C. My brother is an introvert and struggles with social interactions, so he has a few friends.

D. The team decided to stop for a meal while they awaited farther instructions from the head office.

Choose the correct answer from the options given below:

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 3

In C, "a few friends" means some friends and has a positive sense. But the sentence says he struggles with social interaction, so the intended meaning is "few friends", meaning hardly any. Thus C is treated as incorrect.

In D, "farther" normally refers to physical distance. For additional instructions, "further instructions" is the correct expression. Thus D is incorrect.

So C and D only are incorrect, which is Option 3 as per NTA's official key.

Note: Under the traditional fewer/less rule, A ("three less fingernails") may also seem incorrect; NTA does not treat it as an error here.
