A company forfeited 8,000 shares of 20 each on which application money Rs. 6 has been paid. Out of these, 4,000 shares were reissued as fully paid up and Rs. 16,000 has been transferred to capital reserve. Calculate the rate at which these shares were reissued.

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 1

Amount forfeited on the 4,000 reissued shares =4,000×6=24,000= 4{,}000 \times 6 = 24{,}000.

Capital Reserve == forfeited amount −- discount on reissue, so discount =24,000−16,000=8,000= 24{,}000 - 16{,}000 = 8{,}000, i.e. 8,000/4,000=28{,}000 / 4{,}000 = 2 per share.

Reissue price =20−2=18= 20 - 2 = 18 per share.
