A, B and C are partners sharing profits in the ratio 2:2:1. B retires from the firm. After making all adjustments relating to revaluation, goodwill and accumulated profit etc., the capital account of A, B and C showed a credit balance of ₹60,000; ₹70,000; and ₹50,000 respectively. It was decided that the amount payable to B will be brought by A and C in such a way as to make their capitals proportionate to their profit sharing ratio. Calculate the amount to be brought in by A and C.

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 2

Cash brought in equals the amount payable to B, i.e. 70,00070{,}000.

Total capital of the new firm =60,000+50,000+70,000=1,80,000= 60{,}000 + 50{,}000 + 70{,}000 = 1{,}80{,}000.

A and C continue in 2:12:1, so A's capital should be 1,80,000×2/3=1,20,0001{,}80{,}000 \times 2/3 = 1{,}20{,}000 and C's =60,000= 60{,}000.

A brings 1,20,000−60,000=60,0001{,}20{,}000 - 60{,}000 = 60{,}000 and C brings 60,000−50,000=10,00060{,}000 - 50{,}000 = 10{,}000.
