As per terms of admission, provision for doubtful debts is to be maintained on Sundry Debtors at a provision of 5%. How it will be shown in the balance sheet?

Solution

✅ Correct Option: 3

Debtors remain at gross value 6,20,0006,20,000. Required provision =5= 5 per cent of 6,20,000=31,0006,20,000 = 31,000. Only the shortfall of 31,000−20,000=11,00031,000 - 20,000 = 11,000 is debited to Revaluation A/c, but the balance sheet must show the full provision of 31,00031,000 deducted from debtors.
