Valid doubt! I'll try to explain with as less rote as possible so you yourself can understand it next time. The verb “consider” primarily expresses judgment or opinion, not renaming. When a verb gives an opinion about something, it can be followed directly by a noun complement without “as”. Hence, “The film is considered one of the finest cinematic achievements” is perfectly natural and preferred in formal English.
“As” is used when the verb emphasizes role, classification, or identity. For example, “He was appointed as manager” or “She was elected as captain”, where a role is being assigned. With “consider”, “as” is optional and appears only when classification is stressed, not evaluation.
In the given question, the sentence expresses a critical opinion, not a role. So “considered one of the finest cinematic achievements” fits best. But among the options, choice 2 is the only grammatically acceptable structure, since usage of 'as' is in fact valid but not totally necessary, hence it's the best option here.
thanks brother. Any tip for VA since u got AIR 27. how many qs u got correct from idioms and phrases part in IIM Indore VA section. Will it be enough if i practice for topics- pnc, matrices, binomial theorem, probablilty, Straight lines, Circles and Conic sections , Quadratic eqs , Functions including range and domain, Number theory and finally Series and progression from Jee mains paper(2002-20025){ solving those qs which are in par with IPMAT Indore }. Please tell me hoe to manage
I don't remember specific numbers beyond my sectional and total scores, so won't be able to say topic accuracy. But in general my Idioms and Phrases were not an issue, except minor gaps. I mainly lost marks in PJs and Paracompletions.
And as for VA feedback, (pasting one of my AMA responses in reddit):
In VA:
Scoring below 100: Fundamental language issue, Read simple pacy materials to build the sense of the language. May not bring about spectacular results (+30-40) within couple of months, should have been identified in the early stages of prep. Try RCs feature in AB as they do provide those for all levels of difficulty.
Stuck at 120: Decent familiarity, with certain specific types of mistakes. Use Afterboards SWOT analysis to identify your weaknesses and threats. I thought I had superb vocab but then realised that I make extremely avoidable mistakes in these through this tool itself. What I did was leveraging GPT to generate advanced usage based Vocab & Idioms MCQs, I asked it to up the difficulty based on my answering accuracy. I stored every unfamiliar word in the AfterBoards Word List, it autogenerated the definition and I could run flashcards revisions. Seems like I had 161 such words stored (as I said, I only stored unfamiliar ones). The GPT method works for other VA qs types, but its very time consuming so I recommend finishing AB topic tests first since it essentially removes all the prompting work and all and just hands you the questions and explanations curated by difficulty.
If grammar is your weakness, try SAT grammar materials such as Collegepanda book/khan academy, grammar oneshots if you are 'memory oriented' (Nimisha Bansal grammar rules, YT didnt work for me but does work for some).
Stuck at 140: Focus on QA, diminishing returns to VA prep hereon. I was at this stage for the major part of my preparation.
Stuck at 160: If you hear someone say this, they are flexing.
QA: You just mentioned probably 70% of IPMAT syllabus. The remaining 30% is the easiest part you are missing, you HAVE to learn Arithmetic since that is the easiest topic and what people rely on to clear cutoffs in tough exams. CAT has a huge portion of it dedicated to Arithmetic, you will get plenty of resources for that - AfterBoards itself has topic tests and a significant portion of its mock qs are arithmetic (you MUST analyse and try to solve those).
BUT BROTHER CAN YOU TELL ME WILL BE IT ENOUGH IF I PRACTICE FOR ADVANCE AND MODERN FROM JEE MAINS PAPER. Moreover, in VA I always have a gut feeling regarding the correct answer which i think may be correct and i should mark it, but i dont mark thinking it might be wrong. Then after attempting i realise i marked the wrong and i should have marked the one which i had a feeling it could be right. This happens for 35-40 marks
Narrow it down to two options, you will be gaining +1.5 marks on average each time you guess between those two, given you eliminate correctly.
Try proving this using weight adjusted expectations concept, screenshot this and ask GPT for explanation if you are unfamiliar with it - it's an IPMAT concept.
And as for whether JEE pyqs for those topics will be enough or not, I think it may be more than enough given you also solve in a timed manners.
Thanks brother. I will try to bring max marks. One thing i wanna share-I see no improvement in Quants arithmetic and geometry portion. I solve quants 5-6 topics regularly gve 5.5-6.5 hrs for quants, 40 min for DILR and 7-8 hrs VARC.I saw drastic imp in VARC Section. Furhtermore, today i gave VARC Sectional of PW Which was on the tougher side as compared to afterboards. First sectional of pw (VARC) Scored-60 and on the third one scored 121. Am i on the safer side. PLz help me in quants i beg you.
Check the Afterboards portal for Arithmetic, and solve those questions to address any concept gaps. Then complete all the Arithmetic topic tests starting from level 0 to 4. Aim to solve 50 Arithmetic problems per day discounting level 0.
Once these are complete start off with LOD2 of Arun Sharma Arithmetic topics, same number of sums per day, maybe 30 if you find it tougher. Whenever you see quantity limiting your analysis quality, slow down and solve lesser sums - accuracy and understanding is more important.
