About
CUET is a standardised test in India conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) at various levels for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Central Universities, Deemed Universities, State Universities, and other participating institutes across India. It tests language proficiency, domain-specific subjects, and general aptitude. First conducted in 2010 as CUCET, it was taken over by NTA in 2021 and revamped as CUET in 2024 under the National Education Policy 2020, making it compulsory for all 45 central universities.
Content
CUET (Common University Entrance Test) is a national-level standardised entrance examination in India for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. It is MCQ-based, divided into sections for languages, domain-specific subjects, and a general aptitude test. The marking scheme awards 5 marks for each correct answer and deducts 1 mark for each wrong answer. The exam is offered once a year and is conducted in 13 languages. As of 2025, approximately 1,071,735 candidates appeared for CUET-UG.
